Eye Care Scheme

Eye Care Scheme - Schools

The eye care scheme is changing, and vouchers for eye tests and contributions to glasses will no longer be issued.

Staff will need to pay for their eye test and full costs of their glasses and reclaim the costs via payroll.  The eye test maximum reclaim value will be £19.95.  The maximum amount paid towards glasses, if they are required for VDU use at work, will be £55.  If the eye test or glasses are less than the maximum amount quoted, only the expenditure incurred will be reimbursed.

The member of staff will need to download the eye test reimbursement application form, attached.  They will need to complete and get it authorised by their line manager. They will need to take the authorised form to the opticians.  After the test the optician will complete section 2 which will determine whether or not you will be entitled to a contribution towards the purchase of their glasses, if required.

Once  all the paperwork and receipts are completed the employee will need to hand in the claim to the office and the officer completing monthly payroll timesheets will need to advise payroll of the claim and the amount to be paid to the claimant.  The school must retain the original paperwork for audit purposes.

The monies will be paid on the next available payroll run.
