To keep you all up-to-date with the latest information on Coronavirus (COVID-19), and help protect yourself and others, we will be issuing regular updates.
The dedicated COVID-19 information area on the HES portal contains all communications and updates from the Local Authority and central government relating to COVID-19. All early years providers and schools can access this area by using the following link: http://hes.org.uk/Page/17045.
Yesterday afternoon, the Prime Minister announced that the Government’s five tests for easing the lockdown in England have been met, and as expected, the Government will proceed with moving to the next phase of relaxing lockdown measures, enabling all children to be welcomed back to early years settings, and a phased return of some children to school, from Monday 1st June.
The Local Authority wishes to thank all of you for your incredible work in planning and preparing for this milestone over the past few weeks, and the arrangements you are putting in place to keep pupils, parents, staff and your wider community as safe as possible. To achieve this in such a short period of time, in the most challenging circumstances any of us have ever faced, is down to the amazing leadership you have all displayed. Having reached this point, I’m sure that the coming weeks will continue to be as complex and complicated, particularly as the Test and Trace programme becomes more established, and the potential disruption that this may cause on the availability of staff, and the attendance of children and pupils – but the Local Authority will continue to support you as we move forward.
This update includes further information regarding Supporting Children and Young People with SEND, Preparing for the Wider Opening of Early Years and Childcare Settings, Safe Working in Education and Childcare Settings (including PPE), Recording Attendance, and Providing Free School Meals.
Take care, Trevor
