Hsis Early Years - Childminder Safeguarding Training for the Designated Safeguarding Lead

This course is tailored to meet the needs of the DSL.

Outline

You will have the opportunity to:

Consider the role and responsibilities of the Childminder as the designated lead
Understand how to make a quality referral to children’s services – social care
Consider the necessity for information sharing, confidentiality and good record keeping
Understand local early intervention processes
Understand safer working practices and policy development for Childminders

Description

Children rely on adults to keep them safe. As a Childminder you have a responsibility to ensure children achieve the best care and education. The designated lead is an essential role for a Childminder in supporting children to achieve this outcome.
This training will give you greater confidence and awareness to recognise, respond and refer if you have any concerns about a child’s welfare. You will also explore your role in working with parents and other professionals to keep children safe.

Outcomes

By the end of the course you will:

Have increased your knowledge and confidence in your role in safeguarding children.
Know what to do when you have a concern
Know how to make a quality referral to social care

Audience

Childminders who are the DSL

Please be aware that the café does not provide a catering service on Saturdays so you will need to bring your own food and refreshments.
